It’s been a busy few months at BEC Group – demand for tooling and moulding has been sky high, and with many new customers looking to reshore, make suites of mould tools, or experiment with new recycled materials we have certainly had our hands full!As part of our drive towards continual improvement, increased efficiency, and lowering energy consumption wherever possible, BEC has invested in several new machines across our facility.   An Arburg Allrounder 570 C was installed in September to replace an older version in the mould shop. The newer model has a clamping force of 200 tonnes and shot weight up to 434 (PS). Barista & Co supply a range of coffee, makers, and accessories for home brew enthusiasts. They came to BEC Group with an initial design for their Brew It Stick– a handheld coffee infuser designed to make a great fresh cup of coffee easily at home. The BEC team then worked with Barista to develop the design to make it functional for customers and manufacturable at a strong price point. The first design for the Brew It Stick was complex to produce both for tooling and moulding. Our team worked on a design for manufacture to make alterations that would maintain the brewing performance of the stick whilst reducing the cost to create it.
